FAQs
At Get Cargo Containers, we want to ensure you have all the information you need to make a confident purchase. Below are answers to the most common questions regarding our containers, shipping logistics, and store policies.
1. Container Conditions & Inventory
What types of shipping containers do you sell? We offer various sizes and grades of cargo equipment, primarily focusing on standard 20-foot and 40-foot units. Our inventory ranges from "One-Trip" (brand new) containers to "Wind and Watertight" (WWT) high-quality used units.
What does "Wind and Watertight" (WWT) mean? A WWT container is structurally sound, the doors open and close properly, the rubber gaskets seal, and there are no structural holes in the roof or walls. While used units will show varying degrees of surface rust, patches, and dents from years of maritime transit, they are completely guaranteed to keep your items dry and protected from the elements.
Can I choose the color of my container? For used containers, exterior colors are dictated entirely by current depot inventory availability. If you have a specific color requirement for a new "One-Trip" unit, please contact our support team prior to placing your order to check our current stock.
2. Shipping & Delivery Logistics
How much does shipping cost? We offer free shipping on all container orders delivered within our designated service area inside the continental United States. There are no hidden delivery fees or sudden freight surcharges added at checkout.
How long will it take to get my container? Our handling and preparation time is 1 to 2 business days, followed by an over-the-road freight transit time of 15 to 18 business days. You can expect your container to arrive at your site within a total estimated window of 16 to 20 business days from the date your order is verified.
How is the container delivered and unloaded? Delivery is executed via a specialized commercial tilt-bed truck or trailer. The driver will carefully back into your designated drop-off spot, tilt the trailer bed downward, and safely slide the container onto the ground as the truck pulls forward out from underneath it.
What kind of physical clearance do I need for a successful delivery? To ensure a safe delivery, you need a straight, unobstructed path. We generally require at least 60 feet of straight-line clearance for a 20-foot container and 100 feet of straight-line clearance for a 40-foot container so the truck can pull away. The drop-off ground must be firm, level, dry, and entirely clear of overhead hazards like power lines, low structures, or tree branches.
3. Payments, Billing & Security
What payment methods do you accept? We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover) along with Google Pay and Apple Pay. For high-volume commercial transactions or custom modifications, we can also accept direct bank wire transfers (ACH).
Is my payment transaction secure? Yes. Our entire storefront uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. All payments are processed through secure, external gateways that strictly comply with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS). We do not store or view your full credit card credentials on our servers.
4. Returns, Cancellations & Refunds
What is your return policy? We provide a 30-day return window starting from the physical delivery date of your container. Return shipping is completely free—we will arrange for a freight truck to pick up the unit at no cost to you if you are unsatisfied. Additionally, we charge a $0 restocking fee. The container must remain completely empty, unmodified, and accessible for pickup.
How long does it take to get my refund? Once the container has been picked up by our carrier and inspected at our regional yard, we will process your refund. The funds will be credited back to your original payment method within 10 business days.
5. Permits & Regulations
Do I need a municipal permit for a shipping container? Permit requirements, land setbacks, and zoning rules vary significantly by city, county, and local Homeowners Associations (HOAs). We strongly recommend checking with your local municipal zoning office or building authority before finalizing your purchase to ensure full compliance with local codes.
Do you offer container modification services? We specialize exclusively in supplying high-quality, standard cargo units. We do not perform structural modifications directly. However, our containers serve as an ideal structural base for DIY conversions or professional local modification projects after delivery.
